As you can see, Natalie loves her new big girl room. It's got a bird theme (she's very into birds right now, which I will explain in a minute) and very girlie! She's slept 3 nights in her big girl bed and we're so proud of her for adapting so easily (a step stool and two bed rails also help)!
Jeramy and I worked hard all week on this room (so much for a "vacation"). We found the bed and dresser on Craig's List and made them pretty with a lot of sanding, painting and a few new touches. The nightstand was Jeramy's grandfather's but with a coat of pretty green paint and an antique glass knob, it's the perfect bedside table. The iron bistro set was a flea market find and while it was a steal of a deal, it took a lot of elbow grease, paint/rust stripper and a few coats of primer and paint to really make it shine. Jeramy and I even upholstered the pretty pink seats, trimmed with white lace. Natalie likes to have "milk and cookies" with her "babies" at her new table. The tree mural on the wall was my ambitious project of the week. I love how it turned out but it took about 10 hours of tedious painting and standing, which probably isn't smart when you're 6 months pregnant! We even installed a pretty crystal chandelier. The perfect touch for a girlie girl room!
Even though we didn't go anywhere for our vacation, we still had a lot of excitement. Two new baby birds were born on our front porch this week (hence, Natalie's current obsession with birds). We've been watching "mama bird" for weeks build her nest on the column of our porch (which she has done every year we've lived here) and then lay her eggs. Natalie loves to look at and talk to "our" birds.
Continuing with the zoo that is our lives, we also caught two mice in our pantry. That led to a full day of cleaning out and sanitizing the pantry. And Toby had some random allergic reaction that caused itchy red welts on his face and eye. He's been a "cone-head" for the last 4 days. The vet had to shave and treat his face and now he has a cone around his neck to prevent him from scratching at it.
Now, on to the baby's room...
