I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Natalie's sweet 4th birthday was quite a hit with party-goers (who doesn't like ice cream?). And the birthday girl had a very fun time with all her friends and family helping her celebrate! Here are some pics...

Dancing Debut

Natalie's first dance recital was Thursday night and she did great. In the youngest group, her class did "Animal Crackers", a little Shirley Temple number, complete with a white pouffy dress with red polka dots and a giant hair bow.

First, the preparation... ringlets in the hair, a must when you're doing Shirley Temple of course!

Then, tragedy strikes.

In a choreographed above-the-head-hoop move, the girl next to Natalie knocks Natalie's bow off her head. Natalie picks it up and attempts to quickly put it back in her hair. She starts to get upset and doesn't know what to do. She's stopped dancing and standing there looking so sad. Such is life in the unpredictable world they call showbiz.

Afterward, she felt better and enjoyed the rest of the show by the big kids. And we were so proud of her. We all went and had Mexican food to celebrate. It was a fun night!

A man of few words...

But those words are growing every day...

I quizzed him during dinner and we were amazed at how many words he's uttering these days. I'm sure there are more that I can't remember or don't understand yet. Of course as soon as I turned on the camera to document the brilliance of my son, he gets distracted and turns cute.

In other news, Influenza A invaded our house and my body. Luckily it seems to have spared everyone else and I'm on my way back to health. Thank goodness Katsa was able to drop everything and rush to our aid. It was life-saving! Let's hope that with spring just around the corner, the seemingly never-ending sickness will leave us. Night night!

Somewhere over the rainbow...

Based on the way she posed in her Dorothy dress, I'd say she's got a modeling career in her future, don't you think?

So Jeramy bought a DVD of The Wizard of Oz during the holidays and Natalie loved it. Sure, the flying monkeys are a little scary (scarier than the witch if you ask a 3 year old) but we watched it over and over again. Even Jameson danced during the munchkin songs.

So when we got wind of the Wizard of Oz sing along at the Tower Theatre, we knew we just had to go. Natalie already had ruby red shoes from her Snow White Halloween costume. And I just happened to have left over blue & white checkered fabric left over from Jameson's birthday party decor (and Grandma Jean's fabric stash). So, I decided the day of to whip up a fabulous dorothy dress for her to wear. And when we learned that her friend Gracie was going to join us, I prayed that there would be enough fabric for a second dress. Voila! Two adorable Dorothy's!

We started our double mommy/Dorothy date with dinner downtown and then walked to the theater. Surprisingly, there weren't as many kids there as there were adults (and we happened to sit in front of the rowdy 20-somethings who were slightly drunk and more than slightly off key). But the girls had a great time and loved looking the part. On our way home that night Natalie kept saying "There's no place like home." I couldn't agree more...

life.

Life is busy. But I really want to share a little glimpse into our daily life these days. I make all of these mental notes in my head like "oooh, I'll have to remember that for the blog", but then it's weeks before I sit down to update it and I've forgotten 75% of the funny stories, sayings and actions these kids have done.

Natalie's favorite part of baking--licking the beaters!

Jameson steals the stool out of the bathroom to be able to reach things (usually shiny sharp objects) off the counter or in the top drawers. Kitchen utensils, pots, pans, cookie sheets--you name it--his favorite playthings.

Natalie is getting very artistic and has an abstract style going.

When not in the kitchen, you can usually find Jameson either climbing the stairs or on top of the coffee table. He likes to stand on anything that he shouldn't! Thrill-seeker!
