Beautiful baby & her magical balloon

I snapped a few wonderful shots of Natalie playing with her pink balloon tonight before bedtime. I'm convinced it's a magical balloon because no matter what she does with it (sits on it, pinches it, or yes, even bites it), it never pops or leaks. We've had it for weeks now.

I played around with these and tried to make the photos "artsy". Enjoy the upcoming weekend!

Tales from the road

This weekend we took a road trip to visit Auntie Rhiannon and Uncle James in Boise. This was Natalie's first trip out of state and she loved Idaho! She did really great in the car. On the way there, however, there was one instance where we had to pull off the road and strip her naked (8 ounces of formula and a curvy road--not a good combination!).

Once we got to Boise, Natalie showed off all of her impressive skills--crawling, pulling herself up, reaching for things she shouldn't have, etc.). She even made friends with Sammie, their dog. She got a kick out of watching her outside through the glass door.

While the boys went fishing in the freezing cold Idaho air, the girls went out to lunch and did a little shopping! Rhiannon bought Natalie a cute denim jacket and added a little flair to it with a few colorful flower appliques. Natalie loved it. She also gave Nat a new funky hairstyle, as you can see in the pictures below.

Overall it was a fun, but quick trip and we can't wait until they visit us in Bend this summer (hint, hint).

Sorry...

We've just been so dang busy the last few weeks I haven't had a minute to work on new photos or even a quick blog entry until now (when I should be in bed!).

Here's a brief synopsis of what we've been up to lately. Natalie's Grandma and Grandpa Yost came to visit last weekend. They had a lot of fun seeing how much she can do now and she enjoyed all of the attention. She is one spoiled grand-baby.

Nat is not only crawling at mach speed now, but she also has learned how to pull herself up. Last night while playing in her room, she crawled to her toy bin, used it to pull herself upright and proceeded to take all of the toys (within reach) out and dump them on the floor. Then she'd put them back in, quickly followed by... yep, taking them right back out again! What fun!

Tonight we also watched her go from her hands and knees to her hands and feet (yes, both of them!) Hopefully it takes her a while to figure out the standing/walking thing.

She's gotten better about going down for naps. The last few weeks had been a struggle, given her new-found mobility. But now I think she gets worn out and we've had great luck this week with naps (thank goodness!).

She's loving finger foods. Bananas are a hit (and a mess), as are avocados. And she now intentionally drops food to the floor (is it me, or do the dogs look a little on the plump side?). But nothing hits the spot like a good bottle.

Tomorrow we're taking a road trip to visit Auntie Rhiannon and Uncle James in Boise. Hopefully she sleeps most of the way. We're looking forward to a weekend away. What a treat! My guess is we'll come back on Sunday with lots of new pictures to post. Stay tuned and happy weekend!

xoxo

Bug learns to crawl

It was a big week at the Yost household. Natalie started to crawl on Thursday and I happened to catch it all on video! After that she decided she could sit up from a laying down position. All of this new-found mobility is great! Except she likes to practice during nap time and it's been impossible trying to get her to lay down for naps. She can even pull herself up to a standing position in her crib. We're in for it now...

(PS: this is the first movie ever made on our brand new iMac. So cool!)
